The July rodeo weekend is the event of the year here, running four days with a fiftieth anniversary firefighters rodeo and a parade the chamber says draws upward of ten thousand people into a downtown of seven thousand residents. Three separate street dances close Main Street and First Avenue across the summer, with food trucks and beer sales and no fixed restrooms anywhere on the closure.
Isanti more than tripled in size since 2000, so the housing is overwhelmingly post 2000 subdivision stock rather than old farmhouses, and the city has twelve parks including the new Woodland Park. Building continues at forty-six new home permits last year and thirty-three the year before. Winters are hard out here, with an annual snowfall around forty-four inches and a January mean in the low teens, and the county runs its own septic program.
